About Ira Rosenberg's Legacy

Ira Rosenberg was an extraordinary man who understood the power of leveraging opportunities. By using the same guiding principles as Plummer Youth Promise-resilience, integrity, teamwork, joy, compassion, learning & dignity, Mr. Rosenberg created a legendary empire of automotive dealerships in New England. He believed that “if you take from the community, you’ve got to give back to the community,” which he did generously throughout his life.

Mr. Rosenberg supported Plummer tacitly. He connected with young people one-on-one, something not always easy with teenagers. He listened to them describe their artwork, took them shopping, and treated them to dinner. He often shared his own story, conveying the message that your past experiences don’t have to limit your future potential.

It pained Ira to think of young people without necessities like proper clothing, so winter jackets were high on his priority list. But he also recognized that young people need more than basics like clothing, so he supported activities that fostered healthy development, like cameras for teens engaged in photography, and security deposits for young adults getting their first apartment.

Upon his passing in 2019, Ira designated gifts in his memory be directed to Plummer Youth Promise. Today more than 300 people and organizations honor Ira’s lifelong commitment to philanthropy. It is with these gifts that we proudly created the Ira Rosenberg Discretionary Fund.
